Payless Car Rental

My review is for Payless, Budget, and Avis. All of them at this same location are horrible. Disrespectful, inhumane and unbelievable!! There’s no other way to describe how you treat your hard paying customers. 1 per person per 10 people is crazy. Especially when there’s only 3 people working. How can you do this? Have all these registers and lanes and treat your customers like they can wait hours because you don’t want to pay people to come in. Waste of space and time! Zero stars!!

Extremely disappointing experience with Payless at Los Angeles Airport. I rented a Tesla Model 3 that was dirty, poorly maintained, and had a completely damaged steering wheel. The car was also missing the charging adapter, which made it impossible to charge at my hotels – even though my route and accommodations were planned around that. I immediately reported everything at pickup and later by email (with photos). For over two weeks, I received only apologies and generic replies from five different agents. No real solution, no urgency. Eventually, they offered me USD 100 compensation, which doesn’t even cover the extra Tesla Supercharger costs, let alone the time and frustration. There nobody here even though the location says 24 hours and when you call the main they “ Due to unforeseen circumstances we can’t take your call right now”….second photo is the line. This is poor business strategy and efficiency. Won’t use them again.

Truly, if I could give 0 stars, I would. Despite Payless causing me abundant distress and frustration, I want to give an objective report of my experience to warn y’all about this rental car location and spare you the nightmare I experienced. 1. After waiting over an hour in line to pick up our rental, which was made online a week in advance, my boyfriend and I called customer service to discuss alternative pickup options because we were running late to check into our Airbnb. The agent on the phone dismissed our concerns and cancelled our rental for no reason, leaving us to fight for our reservation with several unhelpful on-site agents for another full hour. Absolutely the worst car rental experience I’ve ever had. Payless at LAX is a complete disaster. I had a confirmed reservation, but still ended up waiting forever in a disorganized, understaffed line that barely moved. After a long flight, being forced to waste so much time here is beyond unacceptable. The staff looked completely unprepared, communication was poor, and the entire process felt like they had no respect for customers’ time. What’s the point of making a reservation if you’re treated like this? This company should be ashamed of how they run their LAX location. I will NEVER use Payless again and strongly recommend everyone to stay away unless you enjoy frustration, delays, and terrible service.
