Payless Car Rental

Horrible experience. ALL of the dot-matrix printers but one was broken. So the wait time was ridiculous. No AC in the building makes for many angry people waiting and rude staff. Not a well run business. Never again. UPDATE: The vehicle they contracted to me was filthy on the outside and inside. The previous occupant spilled something sticky in the console and it was not cleaned. As I was documenting damage on the outside, I had a difficult time distinguishing dirt from scratches and scuffs. Also, in the heat of the day, the inside smelled horrid. The windshield was cracked and a loud clicking noise appeared at around 50 MPH coming from the front passenger wheel well. Most unbelievable rental I’ve ever experienced. Rented car fine at the Tulsa Airport. No issues and the lady at counter was pleasant and easy to work with. Drove car 1 day, about 50 miles and had a flat tire. There is no spare tire with vehicle. Payless/Avis was going to charge me a minimum of $130 to tow car back to airport so I could uber back to airport to get a replacement car. The tires were threadbare on the inside tread. Car had 35,000 miles so I’m sure they were the original tires. Dealing with Payless on phone was an absolute joke. The computer doesn’t understand English very well and when you finally get to a real person they are not helpful at all. I would very highly recommend against renting from Payless. I know I will never use them again.

Wish I could leave 0 stars! DO NOT rent with Payless!!! We signed our initial paperwork which had a potential charge of about $700 (appeared to be the deposit, we assumed we would get that money back). We had to wait over an hour for our car, and were then told that we got upgraded FOR FREE because of the long wait time. When we returned the car we were fully charged for the $700 and given a bill listing many illegitimate charges. When my sister called today to see why we were charged so much (on top of the $300 we had agreed to pay for the car we were SUPPOSED to have), we were told that WE WERE CHARGED $700 FOR THE UPGRADE!!! Car was dirty with lots of miles, had lots of small damages, wear was excessive for the age of the vehicle and it stunk of cleaning spray that was trying to mask cigarette smoke. Windshield was cracked, fender had a black piece on passenger side that was coming up from what looked like may have been caused by front bumper damage from scraping when going up hills or something. Seats had stains all over them and the steering wheel was sticky, 4 flying bugs were found in the car during a 4 hour trip and seemed to come from the dash by the Windshield defroster. Windshield was covered in bugs but there was no washer fluid in the car. Prior customer had their personal info on a receipt in the glove box from 3/4/23.
