I had never used Pep Boys before. My car was across the street at an Auto Zone when I realized the new battery I just replaced was not the issue, it was the alternator. I had to coast into the parking lot and luckily made it, crossing four lanes of traffic only to coast right to the doors of the bays. I had called ahead of time to confirm a time and price for my car, which was reasonable and the guys there were nice. As I was walking out the door after leaving my keys, I was told there would be an additional $10 fee to charge my battery. It was snowing, I was irritated and chose to deal with that “added on fee later” as I was not in the headspace to argue. Great place and a great bunch of guys. Pricing is more than fair especially for the top notch work. Great flexibility. Every time I've brought my vehicle there they always handled whatever I needed in a timely manner. They are always busy but still manage to get to everyone with as little of a wait as possible. They are very knowledgeable and will give you your options but won't be too pushy trying to make a sale. Highly recommend.
On 12/20/25, I brought my car in for an inspection/emissions check and for the shop to figure out what was going on with the HVAC in my vehicle, since it was barely working and I need a working car heater during the winter. I scheduled the appointment approximately 1.5 weeks ahead of time, figuring that the shop would prioritize my car. I dropped my car off just before 9:00 a.m. and my vehicle was not ready until 7:00 p.m., even though the shop’s customer portal stated that my car would be ready by 5:30 p.m. When they returned the car to me in the dark of night, I was thrilled to see that the heater worked properly after the shop replaced the blower, and I was happy to see that the car rode well on the new tires that the technician installed. DO NOT GO HERE. DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE IF YOU WANT IT FIXED PROPERLY. UPDATE: The store manager got into contact with me and blamed me for all the issues that I’ve been having. And he told me that I could bring it in to actually get the inspection sticker, so I bring it back on a day that the original inspector was in that way I can actually get the inspection sticker for the vehicle. And I bring it in and he’s Telling me that I’m gonna have to pay for a whole new inspection and an inspection sticker then said that he would waive the inspection fee itself, but I’d still have to pay for the sticker. I already paid for the sticker and I have the receipts to prove it. But I am so fed up with them, giving me the runaround constantly that I am just never going to come back ever again. I’ll
I know a lot of people may not always have positive reviews to share about Pep Boy’s, especially when they’re bringing vehicles with random or major issues and expecting them to be resolved like a fast food drive through. I promised Chuck I would buy my next set of tires from him after having my OEM installed tires on a brand new vehicle go bald after 16k miles. He warned me years ago that dealerships install non-warranted tires with softer rubber compounds and was able to confirm this through conversations with the Pirelli tire customer service office. Chuck has been working in that office since I’ve been driving my first car and I will continue to bring my vehicles there for service for the foreseeable future as long as he’s working there.
