Get a pre-purchase inspection by an independent shop. I thought I’d inspect myself having worked on my truck. When I asked to place it on a lift, the car salesman said they didn’t work on cars there and didn’t have anyone who could operate a lift. That was a lie. So I checked the engine bay and everything looked clean, no oil leaks. The tires were down to 5/32 and I tried to get new ones but they refused to even reduce the price to account for tires nearing replacement. We bought the car nevertheless because we trusted Sandberg’s reputation and because they provided me their mechanics inspection report that reported no issues.
