Savoy Place Memory Care

We moved our parents to Savoy Place from another area facility. That is a story unto itself, and not a 5-star one. But this is about Savoy Place. Mom has been a resident there for well over a year. She has thrived under the care she has received. She is happy, healthy and clean. She looks younger than she has in years. On one recent visit, she was rocking a sassy ponytail the staff had done for her. They like to change her jewelry, and her nails are always a different color. This kind of personal attention is part of what makes them so special. After having considerable trouble finding a place where my parents could be together in an assisted living facility, I found Savoy Place. Danielle and Amanda went above and beyond to make it happen. With my father having late stage dementia, and my mother having physical challenges and no mental issues, many facilities would not take both and allow them to be together. The staff is overall accommodating and caring. There was never a request that I asked for that they did not fulfill. They were always willing to go the extra step to make sure that my parents were comfortable and well cared for.

Our mother recently passed peacefully while living at Savoy Place. We have lived through several different management companies while she lived in the facility, and I am writing to express my deep gratitude that the final care she received was guided by Danielle Wade and her team of skilled care providers. Danielle and Amanda were kind and extremely knowledgeable as they guided us through this challenging process as our family experienced the impact of Alzheimer’s disease on our mom. When we needed guidance regarding her medications and physical needs, Richard and Elizabeth were there to guide us with care, compassion and wisdom. Dementia/Alzheimer's is hard. It's hard to watch a loved one who was once vibrant and full of life as you knew them, deteriorate into someone who is somewhat no longer recognizable. And one can only imagine what it must be like to be trapped and held hostage in a Dementia/Alzheimer's riddled mind. My mom died on Mother's Day this year at Savoy Place after living the last two years of her life there. My mom could be a force of nature to be reckoned with and the disease often left her with little or no filter. My mother passed away last week at the age of 97 after being at this facility for 2 years. This was by far the best place in Champaign-Urbana that she was at. The staff was caring and attentive, particularly Regina but all of them. The food was great. Mother was always clean and nicely dressed, and they treated her so well. She was never neglected or ignored. The admin was responsive to our needs and there was great communication with them. Thank you for this and for caring for her so well.
