Star Smog Check

Came here three times in a period of 2 days. The first time I had a huge exhaust leak; I failed. Second time, (they said it was a free retest, I pull up they said it’s 10 dollars more and another 10 for the certificate if it passed, they don’t stick to their word). I failed the second time as well. I replaced a bunch of parts with new ones and ran the car hard and my numbers were even worse the third time. This made no logical sense. I went to two other shops to cross reference the data and I confirmed their equipment is either faulty or the workers are simply incompetent. The young skinny dude working had no clue what “NOx” meant. The words “lean” and “rich” never came out of his mouth. The guy who actually drove my car on the dyno didn’t look me in the face once.
