My mom, Beth, lived in the Reminiscence (memory care) neighborhood at Sunrise at Montgomery Village for a little over three years before she recently passed away from advanced dementia. Our family is incredibly grateful for the care and compassion shown by the caregivers and staff at Sunrise. From day one, they treated my mom with dignity, patience, and real kindness. The caregivers took the time to get to know her needs, preferences, and personal history, and that made such a difference in her comfort and quality of life. Our family had a wonderful experience with the care given to our late mother when she was a resident of Sunrise Montgomery Village Assisted Living from May 2024 until Sept. 2025. The building is very well maintained and does not have a "nursing home" feel. Rooms are large enough to bring furniture to create a comfortable living space. The food service was good and they are able to fill individual requests for meals, just ask! Above all, the caregivers and nursing staff are truly caring people who often went above and beyond to not just meet physical needs but to make our mother feel like a family member. After visiting several assisted living facilities in Maryland my family chose this Sunrise because the staff is extremely supportive, warm and knowledgeable. The staff has gone above and beyond to make my Mom comfortable and to help us navigate any issues. Some pluses include onsite doctors, friendly front desk employees, excellent nursing and healthy meals that offer variety and dining options. We recently moved to a section with enhanced activities, which has greatly improved my Mom’s daily life and mood.

It seems a lifetime ago. Three plus years ago I was looking for a safe and caring new home for my sister who was no longer able to live on her own. I chose Sunrise at Montgomery Village for the caring staff, pleasant facilities and creative management. When it quickly became apparent that my sister needed memory care rather than assisted living, Christene Henlon, the Reminiscences Coordinator, took my sister in hand during a difficult transition period. She treated my sister with care, affection and sensitivity for the inevitable path we were on. She also monitored my own stress during this tumultuous time. I continue to have the utmost appreciation for the staff as they maintain a comfort zone for my sister and those who love her.

Sunrise's extreme fee increase without explanations or budget documentations. No detailed service descriptions, results, and need assessments by independent medical or state agencies. No individual detailed increase cost proof released to the sole payer, her retired spouse. Medicare Benefits not accepted.. Sunrise's monthly billing to the spouse has more than doubled in the past 6 years to average to more than $12,000 a month Years of documentation are available to appropriate agencies and Consumer Reports.
