After I retired I knew any car that I bought from then on would probably be used. I live in rural Maine where winters are variable but always challenging with bouts of snow, freezing rain and cold. The State of Maine’s official policy is for all roads to be clear of ice and snow within 24 hours of the end of a storm so to accomplish this feat a lot of ice melt i spread which wrecks havoc with the ice and snow that covers the road but also will steadily eat away at the undersides and running components of cars. Sold me an s550 which seemed to be in working condition. drove fine for maybe a month. since then i’ve had to put over 5 grand worth of very necessary work into it. suspension bags, engine and trans mounts, axles, both battery’s front and back and now a huge electrical problem that has put me out of a car for 5 months. He’s a great guy but sells pos cars for a premium price. don’t waste your time and money unless you are willing to blow a bunch of money on repairs. i’m well aware that buying a car like that comes with maintenance, but 5 grand in 5 months is ridiculous. now i have to cut my losses and get a new car.
