Disappointing Experience with Thrifty/Hertz Claims Process I would strongly advise others to consider alternative rental companies, even if it means paying a bit more. My experience with Thrifty (a Hertz company) has been incredibly frustrating and disappointing. I rented a car in April and had a smooth pickup process—the staff at the rental counter were friendly, and the car was ready without issue. Unfortunately, during my rental period, another driver caused damage to the vehicle. I took all the appropriate steps: I obtained a police report, collected the other driver’s insurance information, and submitted a full incident report through Thrifty’s claims portal, including all documentation and photos. Had a reservation. They have 8 employees behind 2 computers and they can't assist people. Apparently if you were mugged, then it doesn't matter if you have a reservation. According to online it was supposed to be the cheapest. I found Enterprise to be over 100 dollars cheaper. Enterprise cleaned the car in front of me and made sure to not keep me waiting on my reservation. No idea why I put myself through the mess of this place downtown. DO NOT COME HERE

Agreed. This is the worst branch. They take reservations but they have no cars. Short staffed on Saturdays, and it takes 1 hour for them to notify that there is not enough cars for everyone in line. It’s deceiving because in parking lot, you see many parked. Those are not what you get. Also, finding a counter on 6th floor is hard too.

75 people in line at DFW airport 1 person working the counter. This is absurd! Would rather pay double than waste a day of our trip in line with the strong possibility of no car being available when we make it to the counter. This is not ok!

Wow, where to start? I'll cut to the worst aspect: more than a week after I returned my long-term (11-day) rental, I found that Thrifty had charged me a $400 "external wash" cleaning fee!. For a car that I had for 11 days and drove a grand total of 276 miles, and which was not at all externally clean when I got it. There was no mention of this fee when I returned the car. I've challenged the fee to both Thrifty and my credit card company. Thrifty responded with a boilerplate "The charges are valid and cannot be adjusted based on the location notation." Outrageous. I have spent (after an accident totaled my own car) about $3,000 with Thrifty this summer, not counting this bogus fee. An unannounced $400 fee for a basic car wash is the height of greed/deception.
