Toyota Service at i.g. Burton Toyota of Dover

I’m giving 3 stars for my last visit, mainly because of my concern about knowledge of hybrid parts and the accuracy of the information provided. When I asked about the hybrid battery filter, Melvin initially seemed unsure and said Toyota doesn’t normally handle it. After checking, he came back and explained it but said it would take too long, something I found surprising, as accessing the filter is actually straightforward. I’d suggest checking with a technician next time for more accurate info. Melvin was friendly and helpful overall. At checkout, I guess the girl who normally checks out the people that service their cars mentioned my cabin air filter might need replacing, but my glove box was locked, and I had just changed it, so I’m not sure how it was inspected. Absolutely the worst service experience I’ve ever had. I spent $1,100 for a tire rotation, brake pads, and other services. A few days later, a friend pointed out that a screw was missing from one of my tires. I went back, and the service team claimed it was already missing when I brought the car in — yet they never mentioned it during the service. Instead of admitting they might have made a mistake, they just kept arguing it wasn’t their fault — and then charged me $20 for the missing screw. It’s not about the money — it’s about the attitude and the complete lack of accountability. What makes it worse is this isn’t the first time. We brought our car in for service here. We did not have the best experience or communication with the service advisor Laurie. The recall was not fixed the first time and had to bring the car back a second time to get the gauge to work correctly. We called to speak with the service manager (Laurie) about the problem but she refused to talk to us. We then called the general manager Brett that made promises that he did not keep. I even followed up with a phone call with him, he didn’t even remember speaking with me. We obviously will not be bringing our car back here for service anytime. Never had an issue at Newark Toyota.

My maintenance appointment was for 1pm. I arrived at 12:50pm. It is 2:40pm and I'm still waiting for the car to be ready. These maintenance appointments should be done in less than an hour.

This is my 1st time visiting here since IG Burton took over from Swartz. Met many friendly people in the Service Department after being stranded while on vacation with a broken alternator. Although originally told our part had to come from Baltimore and the cut off date was missed; someone stepped as our guardian angel and sped the process up. They also were able to find a credit on a part needed. The courtesy car driver was above and beyond making us feel better in a bad situation. Thank you, for your help and understanding.
