Unreliable Service and Poor Workmanship – Avoid for Transmission Repairs I brought my truck to A1 Transmission to have the transmission rebuilt. After three months, I finally got it back, only to discover on a camping trip that it was missing fourth and fifth gear. I returned it to the shop, and they kept it for another three months, assuring me it was fixed. On an other trip, the transmission began overheating and leaking fluid. I contacted Matt, who promised to make things right. They kept the truck again for several months, eventually returning it and claiming everything was fine. The vehicle I picked up from the transmission shop had a lot of parts changed on it from other vehicles. The battery wasn’t the one in the truck that I brought and they didn’t even put the tie down on the correct way. The truck was diagnosed as a valve body but the transmission that was put in the truck by them was not the original transmission that the truck went there with nor should it have been taken out in the first place. There were a lot of missing bolts on the bell housing on a truck that wasn’t supposed to or need to have the transmission taken out. The transmission was a lot dirtier then the engine and was clearly not the transmission the truck went there with. Will be filing with the AG about the issue.

The owner Matt is very unprofessional first I took my transmission out and took it to him. I put it back in my car it didn’t work. So I took him my car to see what’s wrong it been there a month I already paid him and still there outside just got it painted and he could care less I will never send anyone to him.

We were on a family trip to Santa Fe in March of 2023 when our family vehicle started to experience some transmission issues at stoplights. Matt was kind enough to take a quick look, go for a drive, and clear the codes on the computer and get us going again. I can't thank him enough and this review is a long time coming.

We were left stranded near the I-25 on-ramp when the car simply refused to move in any gear. Santa Fe is not our home town so we were ~really~ feeling stranded! Five-Hundred miles from home, we got the tow-truck and the driver suggested A-1 Transmissions as the place to get help. We met Matt who immediately came across as wanting to help but also told us he was quite backed up. He said, however, that'd he'd try to get us a diagnosis as soon as possible. To our surprise, the diagnosis was completed in only a few hours. The part we needed (shift controller) would have to ordered, then programmed for our vehicle.
