Alamo Rent A Car

This was the best rental company I've ever had the pleasure of using. Incredibly friendly service, everything was explained and shown to us with a smile. We received tons of recommendations on what to see and where to eat during our stay. We were incredibly surprised. Thank you for everything!

Generally rent from Budget thru Costco Travel, but have found Alamo a solid alternative especially in Hawaii. Staff are courteous and professional. Only drawback is lack of compact vehicles. 'Upgraded' to compact SUV or full-size, which takes more gas.

Our experience was very good! We went over our questions about where we are not allowed to take the car. Man gave us a map. My only negative comment is that the man told us the car was by the back fence but didn’t really directly show us where the car was. It was brutally hot and we were just wandering around with our luggage. My husband went all the way back and man apologized and showed us to our car. The rest of our trip went well! It was a quite new car that was very clean. We left it in the same condition. The process went smoothly with the return. I like Alamo, after renting 3x from them on this Hawaiian trip throughout the Big I and Oahu.

Got a Chevy Malibu initially. The windshield wiper blades were old and kept leaving streak marks on the windshield. The defroster didn’t work. Also whenever we turned on the defroster, the horn would beep. Were having so many issues after 48 hrs using the vehicle so we returned to the airport and, luckily they switched out our car to a Nissan Sentra which worked a lot better.

I still Rate a 5-Star. Excellent Service by far... Yet if you're planning a trip to Hilo, keep in mind their gas tanks when they assign you your rental. Couple times it's been on the <3.75 gas tank reading- (Not Full) as agreed on the contract. Just be mindful. They are Extremely Helpful and always Accommodate needs. All you gotta do is show them your mobile photo of the issue and they'll be glad to take care of it.
