Austin Subaru - Service Department

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at the Austin Subaru service department. After purchasing a 2015 Subaru Forester in November 2023, I began having repeated issues with the battery only six months later. AAA came out, tested the battery (which was fine), and discovered corrosion on the negative cable. They cleaned it, tightened it, and the car worked again — until the corrosion returned three months later. This became a constant cycle of cleaning, testing, and jump-starting, to the point where I had to purchase a portable rechargeable jumper set just to keep my car running. Finally, in March 2025 — after a year of these ongoing issues — I took my car to the Austin Subaru service center, expecting a permanent fix. UPDATE: Subaru sent a technician and service manager with a lugnut to me and replaced it on the spot and were very apologetic. This is great customer service. I've been servicing my car at Subaru Austin for 5 Years. This last time, they were trying to charge me over $500 for a cowel/windshield separation replacement which is a known issue for Crosstreks 2018-2021. I was able to get in touch with the headquarters and they covered the entire cost for free (this is why they get 2 stars). One of the other issues with the car was the lugstud was stripped (this has happened before and they've charged me to fix blaming it on the weather). I’m not sure what happened to this place. The past few times I’ve brought my Forester here and my dad’s Outback it’s been a headache. For my Forester, they told me I need to replace my brake fluid because it’s dirty. I told them to check their records because I’ve just replaced it the year before and I don’t drive it a lot since I work from home. Then they came back and said that it was a mistake, the technician said that there will be residue of the old fluid because it’s impossible to completely drain it. Then, today for my dad’s car they said that the patching of the tire with the nail is not covered by warranty because we didn’t buy the car from them— which is false because I was the one who had that done here for my dad. Buying a car here isn’t the easiest on a weekend but generally they have a good selection. Maintenance department is awesome. 10/10 would recommend. Would recommend negotiating with the sales reps and not using their lenders for financing
