Avis Car Rental

When I got to the office. No one was available at the desk. I tried calling but you could hear the phone ring but no answer. After 20 minutes of no help. I peeked behind and found a cell phone there and was still unsure where the worker was. By this time we had a line of 8 people waiting. What am I to do? I tried relaxation breathing techniques. One of the people in line had seen the worker before and went searching for him. She did find him. Then we finally got processed for the car. And waited outside the hotel for the car. This took another 30 minutes. We are still waiting. We actually saw our car. But then the car drove away. It’s quite strange. Definitely not a positive experience. The other people in like all agree. Booked at 11 AM for a 3 PM pickup. Enterprise and Hertz said no. Avis said “we’ve got you” and actually meant it. Car was ready on time and the staff made it smooth. That’s how customer service should be. Would rent again without thinking twice.

I booked a car for 30th of September - one way from Ann Arbor to Chicago. The car was very dirty and it smells really bad (someone smoked). The window cracked and the engine light was on. I returned the car and asked for refund. I called many time to check the status. The guy keeps telling me they will issue the refund. It has been more than one month and I still have seen any refund. Well, those cheaters made my future decision easier - never use Avis again.

Car was absolutely filthy when we picked it up. I went back to the counter to request a different vehicle and was told nothing was available but they would clean the car while we waited. We had no choice since we needed a car so we opted to wait. Less than 5 minutes later the keys were returned to us and we were told the car was now clean. Obviously in that time frame, it was not actually cleaned. Pictures attached were taken after the car was "cleaned". Car also smells terrible as though it has been smoked in and attempts made to cover with air freshners. Lots of what appears to be pet hair in addition to lots of crumbs and food debris. Rental car was totally fine, but waited almost a half an hour for an employee to show up for my Friday pick (office was locked). Same thing happened for my Monday drop off appointment except this time the office was unlocked but no employee present for the first 20 minutes. No clear information about if any closing documentation was needed so I waited there just to be safe. Turns out nothing was needed and I didn’t have to sit there for 20 minutes waiting. I could’ve just dropped the keys in the drop box.
