Extremely disappointed. I returned the car early with a full tank, yet I was still charged for fuel. completely inaccurate charges and unacceptable. I will not recommend this company to anyone.
We had a great experience with Avis at the Cedar Rapids airport. The woman behind the counter was friendly and helpful and gave me a choice of cars within our chosen category, as well as the option to upgrade. We were informed that if we left the fueling of the car up to them, the price per gallon was actually less than the going gas station rate. After seeing other reviews complaining about this, we checked our final bill and everything seemed to be in order. There was no additional surcharge that I can see for the service and the total fuel price seems in line with what it would have taken to fill our tank. (We returned the car close to empty.) We rent from Avis regularly and always have good experiences.
I was never asked by the agent whether I wanted the fuel service. She just added it on, along with a $20 surcharge on top of the $35 for a full tank of gas. She specifically told me that roadside assistance was included, but then I was charged $8.99 per day. Almost $75 in charges that I did not need. Yeah, I initialed for them. That's what I get for not taking the time to read the entire agreement. Buyer Beware with this company. Reading other reviews for this place, it appears that I am not the only one being lied to by their agents.
Car was good and employees were decent enough but somehow i went from original going to be $300 to being charged $500. I guess the devil is in the details. Also, lady said gas would be cheaper from them but Im pretty sure there was some extra charges in there.
Be careful to review your final bill as they can charge you for fuel even if u have filled your tank to full. Even during return, I specifically told I had filled to full and showed her the picture of fuel gauge, then still charged for fuel. I had to call them up and they say system error and looks like fuel refill will be added by default if u drive less than 75 miles.. sounds like scam! Beware
