Avis Car Rental

I am not in the business of being mean for no reason, but this experience was genuinely terrible. Avis advertises a “priority” or “preferred” service that supposedly gets you your rental car faster. Ironically, it feels like the regular process is made unbearable just to push people into paying extra. We tried to sign up for the Preferred membership ourselves, but the website crashed every single time we attempted it. At the airport, there are two long lines—one inside and another outside—both moving at a crawl. The inside line is for check-in, while the outside one is where you wait for “clean” cars, a term I use very loosely. The sentiment in line was filled with horror stories from other customers. The employees were great, but the wait was absolutely insane. Reserved a car about 3 weeks in advance, so they knew I was going to be there. But it was said they ran out of cars. The wait was about 2.5 hours to get a car - it was quicker for people to get an Uber to another car rental place and get a car than it was to wait here in line. Got off the shuttle around 11pm and waited in two lines until about 140am when I was finally assigned a car and got to leave. No real explanation was given. Not sure I will choose this rental place in the future. If you reserve the car ahead the company should know to have a car there for you, don't reserve cars if you don't plan to have one there!

I recently had a terrifying experience while renting a car from Avis, and the way this company handled it was absolutely disgraceful. During my rental, I was carjacked at gunpoint and ended up in a police chase where the vehicle was hit multiple times by other cars and by police trying to stop the suspect. Eventually, I located the car at the impound lot, but they told me I couldn’t retrieve my personal belongings until Avis provided written consent.I went back and forth to the same Avis location at least five or six times, spending well over four or five hours total just waiting to speak with a manager. Decided to give Avis another try and was very unhappy with my decision! Waited over an hour for a charter bus to arrive and pick us up. Called multiple times to Avis that we were there waiting, mind you this was during business hours so charter buses were flowing pretty frequently with the other car rental services. There were other people waiting as well and calling for the same reason and nothing. Seriously ridiculous! The only good thing was the check in process which was smooth and easy. If it’s not one thing going wrong is something else with Avis! I am not likely to rent from here again!

This location handles Avis and Budget car rentals... very poorly. I arrived at 2:37 pm and didn't see a representative until 3:23 pm. A 46 minute wait and I was told that was much better than some days! The work space features a dozen workstations but only half or fewer were being used by staff during my wait. This is a clear sign of a parsimonious company that understaffs to save money and cares little about the customer experience. I finally got a car at 3:30 pm - almost an hour wait. I don't recommend using them and I will not use them the future.
