Avis Car Rental

I just want to publicly thank Abby and the staff at the Avis/Budget rental at Hayden Airport! Our family had booked a trip to Steamboat over the Christmas break and saw how expensive it was to get a shuttle into town. We reserved a vehicle with Enterprise and signed up for whatever was available at the time when we got there, it turned out to be a compact hatchback car, and our boys are grown adults. There was no way we're going to be able to fit in my car with all of our luggage. We had asked Abby if they had anything, and they had a truck available, better was twice what we had budgeted if we were to rent a vehicle. Best personnel anywhere!! They are always ready, friendly and care about their customers. I arrived late one evening and the worker checked to make sure all was good before heading home. I was familiarizing myself with the car :)

Update: After receiving a generic response from Avis requesting more information (which I promptly provided), all I received in return was a brief apology - no concrete resolution, no compensation, and no genuine effort to make things right. Given the severity of the situation, I find their lack of accountability deeply troubling. Such dangerous incidents should never occur in the first place, and it’s unacceptable that a major rental company would fail to take meaningful responsibility afterward. We are forever grateful to the wonderful staff at this Avis location. Audra is just fantastic. After a major issue at the Avis at DEN, where they did not have the car we had reserved (or anything close to it), we desperately needed to switch out our unsafe rental when we got to Steamboat. We called ahead and Audra was so helpful, making sure we ended up in a safe car that could fit our family and luggage. As it happened we drove back to Denver later that week in a blizzard, and soon after we got to Denver they closed I-70E/W from Silverthorne to the Eisenhower Tunnel. We would have never made it safely without the replacement car from Avis in Hayden, and we are so thankful for Audra and her niece for being such amazing people!

Rented a Telluride March 22, 2025. As soon as we started driving away I notice strong smoke smell and called to say I didn't want to be held resonsible. "no problem, don't worry". Get to town and notice a sizable dent in right front door and panel. Call again to explain the damage and took photos of the door with their X marks that they had already marked the damage with. Get notified 4 months later that they filed a claim against State Farm. I told State Farm to not pay since it was pre-existing. Avis "Recovery" starts trying to collect more than $4000. I sent them proof of the damage with their marks on the damaged panels that we took day 1 along with my call history showing I called twice within an hour of taking the car. Have spoken with recovery twice and no resolution. L
