Many negative reviews complaining how busy they are not taking in consideration all the Christmas cancelations due to wintry messy weather. They are overwhelmed, this is one of the busiest airports in the world My opinion is they need to get organized but this location isn’t bad at all get I’ve waited once 2h, then next time 10mins so it all depends of the airport situation. When experience goes bad everyone leaves a review but not otherwise. Service is quite fast, and staff are quite friendly. Car condition is okay, with a free upgrade to a mini van. But the guide for using toll card is a bit unclear.

Absolutely terrible experience at the JFK location. The manager, Bali, was rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional — especially toward an elderly customer who simply requested a regular low vehicle. Instead of honoring the reservation, they tried to force an SUV upgrade with an additional daily charge. When he declined, the attitude became even worse. It felt like a deliberate attempt to squeeze more money out of a vulnerable customer in a stressful airport setting. That kind of behavior is unacceptable. Customer service was shockingly poor. Avoid this place like the plague. We find a deal with hertz for cheaper. We will never rent again with avis. Stay away from this place The .anger lie that the nit suv car its more expensive actually lied we just want a sedan what we ordered

On 1/31/26 at 12:00PM. Me and my 4 young children had an extremely disappointing experience with Avis at JFK. Prior to arriving, I booked a two-week rental directly with an Avis professional. I made sure every single question was asked and answered in advance, including payment, deposit, and documentation requirements. Based on that conversation, I paid $700 upfront days before my pickup and arrived fully prepared with my deposit and all required documents. I can’t book another car elsewhere until I get paid again which is crushing me and my family as a single mother financially because AVIS has my money and refunds take days-weeks. When I arrived at the rental location, they did the exact opposite of what was confirmed, ran another credit pull, and then denied me the vehicle altogether.

I rented a car from Avis for a full month and paid a lot of money for it. After just two days, the oil change warning light came on. I called Avis immediately and asked what I should do. They told me to go to a branch and exchange the car. I explained that I was extremely busy and could only come on Saturday, and asked them to make sure a replacement vehicle would be available because I didn’t have time to keep coming back. The representative assured me it would not be a problem. Well, guess what happened… I arrived at the branch and there was no replacement car available. They told me to come back again in a few days, and even worse — they couldn’t guarantee there would be a car then either. I asked them to send a replacement vehicle to where I was, and they said that’s not possible.
