Never thought Avis would be so bad. Avis / Payless are combined here. Counter person was pleasant. But cars are awful. Couldn’t match price on reservation. Started with one car that was filthy and all the lights went on the dashboard before I left the lot. The next car was clean on the outside but key fob held together by tape, center console broken gas on a little more than 3/4 but they claim full on paper. When I advised the staff they claimed that’s how the cars are Just make a notation. Wow never expected Avis to slide so badly.
First I was told to pick up a car in spot D37 and the keys were in the car. I noticed the outside of the car has not been cleaned in awhile. Bug on the windshield so most likely it was never washed after the last return. I loaded up my luggage and tried to start the car. Well, no keys in the car. I uploaded my luggage and headed back to the front desk. As I'm unloading I noticed the inside of the back seats was not cleaned and a water bottle was left in the car. Front desk gives me another car and I went on my way after a 30 min delay. I requested a car that had been cleaned inside and out. I did not receive a car that was washed outside and inside. Numerous bugs on the windshield and a second dirty car. My check in time was not updated for the delay. The car drove fine. I returned the c
I truly wish I had read the reviews prior to booking a rental car with Avis through my credit card. Check-in went smooth and quick, very straightforward as I had prepaid. They asked for my ID & CC, and told me I would be charged the deposit which would fall off after I returned the car. They asked about additional coverage which I declined. Asked if I wanted to refill the gas on my own or pre-purchase. Had me sign a tiny signature pad which she said was for declining coverage and accepting that I would return the vehicle with the same gas level. All standard practice. Handed me the keys and told me where to find the car. Car was filthy (inside & out) and had lots of dings, dents, scratches. Whatever, I took photos to document everything and left. They checked the gas level when I returned
So story time: When you knew you should just cancel your rental because it's predicting your impending bad experience with over a 90 minute wait to get a vehicle you were NOT expecting and a $200 deposit NOT disclosed when you intially book. Chapter: Here we go again Harrassment ; ten days after I returned a vehicle on its due date. I escalated the situation today through both Avis customer service and AARP, the company I booked it through. AVIS said they would take care of it in 24-48 hours. AARP said they show the car returned and AVIS probably failed to properly close the contract. They claimed the emails are automated YET 'Steven' is now personally texting me. Avis/Budget is the only company that will always have a line to suffer because they don't care about their customers' time. App wasn't giving me any options to bypass the counter, but eventually offered me an EV as I waited in line. I told the staff that I do not want an EV, and he assured me that a normal sedan would be provided. I went to the prescribed spot, and it's a crossover SUV EV. Neither my hotel nor jobsite had a charger, and it takes 11 hours to charge to 180 mi range. This was a stupid inconvenience that I specifically asked to avoid. It doesn't come fully charged, and if you bring it back with less than 70%, you'll get charged $35. If Avis wants to issue EVs (which can't be topped up on the way to the airport) against the express requests of their customers, they should charg
