Avis Car Rental

I had no idea what to expect here but it was such a great experience renting from Avis! It’s a super, super small car lot but I found they did a wonderful job. A friend from Europe was visiting for the week and wanted her own car to be able to get around. She originally tried to get a rental at the Tampa Airport, but they tried to make her pay an extra $300 for being international which was a hidden fee. Super shady. So, we decided to come to Avis and make sure they could help with a rental car for an international. The gal who helped us was super sweet and even called her manager to make sure it would be okay. Horrible staff and didn't help. I was stuck with my child and paid $150 from 1 location to the next. The lady working wouldn't rent me a car bc my card chip didnt work . My card chip got damaged. I was able to swipe but she canceled the transaction. I asked to talk to a manager and she told me the manager was gone. I called customer service ( corporate)and they spoke with her and she told them its corporate policy to use card chip only. After corporate asked her to talk to manager as well . She stated on a recorded line to CORPORATE theres no manager. They said so you're there alone with no manager. I was then told they would send me to the winter haven location. Best rental experience I’ve ever had. Polly provided such a seamless and fast experience all while she seemed to be working on multiple different tasks at once. Her level of professionalism and ability to handle stressful situations seemed to be second to none. This is the only facility I will be looking at when renting another car in the future.

Was great place to rent, until they charged us $600, for a rental 5 month ago. Rental was to drive from Orlando International Airport to Lakeland. Picked up at Airport and returned the next day at Lakeland. Somehow, 5 month later they found damage to windshield. Never sent us anything in email and because we rent with Avis a lot, I never thought about going 5 months to check all agreements with updated charge. We checked few and couldn't find anything. I end up calling Credit Card company to cancel charge, which later came back to my Credit Card company with Agreement number that allowed us to track back the charge. We are still disputing this charge. We certainly didn't damage windshield just driving 30 miles on I4, nor we noticed anything when we rented car. They didn't car we ordered at

Another rental company said they had no cars for my reservation, so I walked into the Avis office in Lakeland, FL, without one, hoping for help.
