Avis Car Rental

**NOTE- THIS LOCATION REALLY OPENS AT 9AM NOT 8AM!!!** I used to work at a rental car facility so I understand what is expected of employees and how demanding the job is, so I wouldn’t say the things I’m about to say without them being warranted. The location I rented at (Ridge Lake Road, Memphis) was very impersonal and unfriendly. I had signed up for an 8am pickup slot, got there 15 mins early, only to wait one hour before anyone even showed up. The staff at the other facility next to Avis was nice enough to let me wait in their building out of the hot sun because they told me “they never open on time, they’re always late.” When someone do decide to show up, I had to slide my documents under a door to the building because they wouldn’t even let customers in. I would give Avis zero stars if I could. They gave me a dirty Toyota Corolla with trash inside, the “maintenance required” sign was on, I had to fill up the tires with air, and the light still did not go off. I tried calling and of course no one answered. I booked it for a week because my car was in the shop. I was informed the daily rate would be about $96/day if I did not keep it for at least 5 days. I returned it less than 24 hours after picking it up and was charged $191. For a dirty and basic Toyota Corolla. James said he wasn’t able to do anything about it, no manager on site, and that I would have to call customer service. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

This is the worst Avis location in the country. The local website and the Avis website both say the location is open Sunday. Booked a reservation on the Avis main website to pickup on Sunday. The location changed my reservation for pickup Monday with no communication at all to me. Another rental occasion and I adjust and come in Saturday to pickup and they give me a very nice smokey vehicle with a major crack in the windshield. I am offered a different vehicle which reeks of weed. I return the vehicle on Saturday and come in during published hours at the physical site and guess what? They're closed. I filled the tank AND they charged me for Gas service and sent me the receipt 2 days later. This location is inside a Hilton which is nice and has other businesses operating onsite which

I've had to call Avis Customer Service regarding the issues I've had with this location twice. The attached pictures speak volumes for poor customer service and lack of knowledge on giving clean cars to clients as well as drive-ready cars. The first car I was given had a broken headlight, I came back in to exchange the vehicle. I was told they had no other vehicles. I inquired about the red blazer sitting next to the car I was given. I was given the red blazer, I went to retrieve it, and it was not cleaned out after the previous renter. It was dirty, out of washer fluid, and required an oil change. Overall, this was a headache.

Reserved a car for 9 am pickup on August 31st. Had to take a $45 Uber to get there; I had a car emergency and had to put my car in shop yesterday. I get there before 9 and no one is there, so I wait. At 10 minutes after, I call the local number, but I get transferred to the corporate customer service. My reservation is indeed confirmed and the business hours are 9-12. I was told to wait and someone would be in. I wait an hour and still no one. Another customer is also now waiting. I call and it goes to customer service again. They again confirm my reservation and the business hours. They said they could guarantee me a car at another location. I begrudgingly agreed and booked an Uber.
