Disappointing and dangerous Avis rental experience, understanding and good staff. Avis knowingly rented us a car that didn’t have sufficient oil, and had other concerning issues due to lack of maintenance. One hour after leaving the garage, our car displayed a message saying engine oil low add oil and a oil change due message. Being in the middle of rural Pennsylvania we called Avis roadside who said we could either swap out the car at the nearest Avis location (over an hour away in the opposite direction), get a oil change and be reimbursed up to $100 (which might not even cover the cost of an oil change), or add oil ourselves and get reimbursed by Avis for the oil. We picked our car at Express, Newark New Jersey airport, and I was shocked to notice that the car with only 11,000 mi on it a 2025 Mazda GX-50 let the vehicle had a big crease in the rear back hatch that I'm assuming was causing the vehicle avoidance system rear malfunction warning message we had to contend with the entire time we drove it, in addition to the rear damage always a scrape on the side, a big pit in the windshield on the passenger side so it wasn't such an issue and the stitching in the seat was already coming apart. This was allegedly an upgrade to the full size that I had ordered, we drove it anyways but was really shocked at the quality of the vehicle and especially with the big crease in the rear back hatch, I would think that Avis should have repaired that before they put

Our SUV was waiting for us even though we were about 30 minutes early. Upon returning our rental we were met by Darnell who was super friendly and and helpful. He saw that I had mobility limitations and immediately found a way to jump in and assist us. These days it's not often that you encounter people who go out of their way to offer assistance, Darnell was that person for Avis at Newark Liberty Airport!

I had an extremely disappointing experience with this rental company at Newark Airport and I am formally requesting a full refund of both my rental payment and my $250 deposit. It has now been 15 days and my deposit has still not been returned to my debit card. When I arrived to pick up the vehicle, the first car they tried to give me was extremely dirty. I refused it. They then attempted to replace it, but there were no cars available on the lot. When I returned later, they provided a third vehicle — which was even dirtier than the first one. I had no choice but to take it due to time constraints, and I personally paid to have the vehicle cleaned. The situation became much worse on the second day. The vehicle was electric and showed 35 miles of remaining range, yet it completely broke
