Excellent Car Rental Experience at the Airport! AVIS was super easy to find—well signposted and conveniently located within the airport. The staff were incredibly helpful, friendly, and patient, making the whole process smooth and stress-free. The vehicle pick-up area was also well-organized, which made getting on the road quick and easy. Highly recommended for a hassle-free rental experience!

Very disappointing experience with Avis after returning a car at the airport. On the way to return the vehicle the trip started with bright sun, but then heavy rain began. Because of the change in light I took off my sunglasses and placed them in the passenger door compartment. Both the door and the glasses case are black, so when I returned the car I simply didn’t notice them there. About two hours later I realized what had happened and immediately submitted a lost item request through customer support. Of course, I was told that nothing was found in the car. These were sunglasses worth about $300. It’s hard to believe that something clearly left in the passenger door could just “disappear” when the car is inspected and cleaned before the next rental. Recommendations: The wait at the desk could be a minute depending on time. It’ll take a bit, but they’ll get to you. Also, take video and pictures of it before you get in so you don’t have extra charges for any damage that may have been there prior. This saved me in Europe with hertz. Rental: We booked a car and received an upgrade to a truck. Which was okay with us. The gentlemen at the counter were really kind. After three days, the transmission started to fail. We returned it and received another one right away. Service: Vehicles were not ready. The workers were trying but there were so many people waiting. Building: Part of the airport so it is what it is. EDIT: I'm maintaining a 3/5 due to the inconvenience of having to reach out to Avis to close the loop on the rental car return; however, they were quick to resolve it and close it out (same-day). Kudos to the team for that - thank you! ORIGINAL: A 3/5 rating to me means the location met most of my expectations but fell short in some important ways. I'm a preferred member, was informed I was able to go straight to my car, which was pre-chosen in the app. That was great. I will absolutely NEVER rent from Avis Charleston again! After a delayed flight with arrival at 11:30 PM, I attempted to request security to escort me to the garage to pick up my rental since I was concerned after being grabbed at the Avis counter in Milwaukee 2 weeks ago leading to an arrest of the assailant. The agent, Tony, slammed his hand on the counter saying he didn't care follwed by giving me directions through 2 garages.
