Avis Car Rental

Would not recommend renting from this location if you have a one way reservation. Similar to other reviews, less than 24 hours before my reservation I was told there were no cars available and they could not give me a different car at the price my car was reserved for. The only solution was to wait for another car later in the day that was "guaranteed" would be available, though it hadn't been returned yet. They also could not refund me if I canceled the reservation because they are an "independent contractor" and I would need to call Avis corporate. I'd recommend choosing other Avis locations in Richmond or the airport, or using a different rental company altogether which is what I ended up having to do.

I had two reservations via Expedia and there were plenty of cars including ones that were returned in front of me. The rude woman at the counter basically refused to rent them to me. I hadn’t even opened my mouth when I walked in and the woman who was NOT’ wearing a mask while all the customers were - just barked out that she didn’t have any cars to rent to me. Its possible that she didn’t want the car to be returned at the airport - I have no idea. When I was waiting for an Uber, a friend of hers seemed to come back with a perfectly nice car and she said she was returning a car and they chatted merrily while I hovered around. She told me again that she didn’t have a car to rent. Avoid this place.

When I rented the van from them back in August. There was no issues picking it up or dropping it off. The person told me to park it and give him the keys and that was it. A month later I get a charged on my card, no reasoning at all. I was never given a reason for this extra charge. Once I disputed the charge, the bank said it was because I received service in August and that my card is on file. But Still no reason to why I was charged in late September. The bank suggested I should get a new card. The people at this location will lie and charge your card without proof. When you drop it off they will tell everything is good. They’re try to find something wrong a month later, without calling and charge your card. I do not recommend.

The gentleman who works with all the insurance companies went above and beyond to help me after an accident that totaled my car. Thanks so much! I got a car, finally. Here is a picture

Website let me book a car. 1 hour before I was supposed to get the car they called to tell me that they "have no cars". When I asked why the website let me book a car they told me because it's dependent on people that are supposed to be returning their cars that day but if people don't return their cars then there's none available. This is not okay, and most rental places seem to operate the same way it is not okay to cancel on somebody an hour before they're supposed to get their car for an important event.
