I would give zero stars if possible. I am pissed off at myself for not reading reviews before booking considering there are so many 1 star reviews. This branch is a disaster and a safety liability. 1. Mechanical Failures & Safety: I was "upgraded" to a Hyundai Tucson that was filthy inside and out. 100 miles into a desert drive to San Diego, the "Change Engine Oil" light came on. The car was so poorly maintained it consumed double the normal amount of fuel (two refills for a 400-mile trip). 2. Staff Misinformation & Scams: I was told by the pickup agent that I could return the car after hours due to traffic without penalty. When I returned the keys, I was told that employee was "fired for giving wrong info" and they charged me $74.07 anyway. They literally penalized me for their own employ
We had the absolute worst experience at this Avis location with Freddy. I booked and prepaid a reservation for a rental pickup at 11:45 AM on Sunday (they close at noon.) The week prior to pickup we were at the Scottsdale Resort for a business conference. On Sunday morning (9:30 AM) we called this Avis location to see if it was possible to pick up earlier but there was no answer. We left the conference and ubered over but were told our reservation was at 11:45 and we needed to return, so we went back to the conference and at 10:39 AM I got a call that the car was ready for pickup. At this point, we were back at the resort and in session so we figured we'd return at 11:45 as per the original plan. We arrived at 11:50 AM and Freddy handled our reservation. The reservation was under my name
I had a reservation for the Avis on Talking Stick Way. My reservation was for a full sized vehicle. When I arrived, Avis only had TWO vehicles on the entire lot. They tried to give me the smallest car which was not a full sized vehicle. The only other vehicle was a larger vehicle, which had a broken front windshield and was filthy inside and outside. I rented this vehicle since it was the only other remaining. I helped the employee vacuum and wipe the interior of the car. The exterior was filthy as well. The employee stated that he noted the damaged windshield; however just recently I reviewed a letter with charges over $800. Good thing I took photos of the evidence. Go charge the previous renter. I’ve rented at this location before and had other issues as well. Would not recommend renting
Rented vehicle online, sent employee to pick up and then last min require deposit with a physical card in store. Double standard taking payment online for vehicle and not charging deposit all together one transaction. Bait and switch tactics. Unprofessional, told to call 800 number for everything. Joke of a franchise location, change your reservation to another pick up spot.
I prepaid "estimated" charges for a one-week car rental. Once I returned the car, the actual charges I incurred were $75 less than what my credit card was charged for the prepayment. When I called the store to inquire about my refund, I was told I would have to call "customer service," and was given an 800 number to call. The runaround had begun. After being on hold for 45 minutes with "customer service," I was told that Avis/Budget's policy is to not refund for prepayments, but they would offer me a discount on a future rental. I told them I did not want a future rental discount, I wanted to be refunded my money, because I had been charged more than what I actually incurred. 25 minutes later, I had spoken with a supervisor, who told me the same thing.
