Big Black Rubber

That's enough heart break, I'm done with Big Black Rubber. First - the positives - this place is full of good hearted folks. The owner, the front end gal(s) who always answer the phones, down to the techs doing the work - they're usually pretty easy to work with and are responsible for the work they're able to do/decisions they make. Unfortunately that's where the positives end. My first interaction with them a few years ago should have been the last. Shame on me for not heeding my own caution. I brought Big Black Rubber a set of 5 35x12.50R17 brand new BFG A/T's with stickers still to get mounted on rims and siped for winter traction. I gave specific instruction just to sipe the center tread blocks, not the shoulders. The next day the tires were ready for pick up, and of course th

Waited 3 hrs (I'm not mad about that they were extremely busy) only for the technician to break my lug nut key. No one offered to replace it and I can't replace it. Now I have to not only pay for my tires to get changed some where else but I have to pay for a whole new lug nut set and nothing was offered by the business to be covered. Everything at my expense for the technicians mistake. Not gonna be returning ever and won't recommend their place anymore. I feel like my lug nuts should be covered and I shouldn't have to pay 60 extra for my tool being broken by someone else! How do I know you didn't reverse thread and snap my lug key because of negligence.

Great place for tires! One of the few shops that still sipe a tire, would highly recommend!

I’ll start with the positives: the employees I interacted with, from the ladies at the desk to the dude in the shop, were quite cordial. Unfortunately the process of getting a repair for my wife’s punctured tire was a big failure. I was down from Talkeetna and, having the choice of many tire shops, I’d called ahead to learn if they could fit me in. Their answer was yes, they weren’t busy, they could fix the tire that same afternoon. I got a tag for my tire and wheel from the front desk and dropped it in the (disorganized) pile in the back. I returned the next day, figuring I’d give them the extra time for the repair. Tire wasn’t done. I couldn’t find my wheel in the pile. The ladies told me to go ask the guys in the shop. Called to inquire about getting two new front tires. They told me they wouldn't sell/mount two, but only all four, because they "couldn't guarantee that my existing two were in good condition." What? I didn't ask for them to make any warranty on, nor to even evaluate my existing two rear tires, which are in quite good condition. Went elsewhere and got two new front tires mounted without issue nor aggravation.
