Big O Tires

Now to start off this isn't a big deal. I took my car in to get a flat fixed and instead of taking the tire off and putting on a patch on the inside, they just put a tire plug in it. Now to get to the "not a big deal" I have crome valve steam caps (to make the look a little nicer / cleaner) aging nit a big deal but they replaced with their bulk generic black plastic cap.

First off, the good: This Big O Tires has excellent service and a fast turnaround. At my hometown Big O you have to book days in advance. More to do with the population density in California vs Logan but I digress. You can go into this Big O any day of the week and within 1.5 hours, or just a walk around the block, get your oil changed and tires rotated. 5/5 when walking out of this store. The bad: 8k miles later I'm ready for an oil change and this time I plan on doing it myself. I have access to a car lift so a buddy and I get the car up into the air and for the next 10 minutes, try and break the oil plug loose, starting with a ratchet and eventually getting the plug out with a 2 ft long breaker bar. Absolutely unacceptable. With a torque rating of 31 ft-lbs it took at least 100 ft-lbs

This place doesn’t even deserve one star. I came in a few weeks back to ask about a mirror being replaced, the worker told me that if I bought the part and brought it in, it would be no charge to replace it. On that promise, I came back in with the mirror and asked them to replace it. They said they’d be happy to do that, but that it would cost $60. I tried to be understanding, and said I’d pay the labor. I asked about a brake check as well, they said they’d do that no problem. Well, I’ve been here for two hours. They haven’t touched my mirror. They broke the lug nut key trying to get my tires off for the brake check, and they want to charge me for new lug nuts and to drill out the remaining ones since the key is broken. I went to this location a few weeks ago get my rear left tire checked because I thought there was a hole in it. They had it for not even 20 minutes, came out and told me the tire cap was just loose and filled it with air. I found that a little weird since I was the last one who filled that tire and I remember screwing the cap on all the way, but took their word for it. They didn’t even charge me and sent me on my way. My tire light came back on while I was on the freeway yesterday and my tire blew out, almost killing myself and several other drivers. I would have much rather seen them take more than 20 minutes to properly check my tires, and I would have been more than happy to pay for an actual tire repair. Got pretty nice tires for my old SUV. They were at a decent price and the service was provided promptly. The car feels nice when driven and ao far I haven't had any issues with the new tires. I'll keep posting how they feel and perform as the time passes.
