I took my car here a couple of weeks ago because my engine light came on. After what they said was diagnostic testing, I was told the issue was my battery. I specifically asked how they were certain, since an engine light can mean many different things. I was reassured multiple times that it was definitely the battery. I ended up paying around $400, including $99 just to install the battery — something many auto parts stores will do for free. Before I left, I asked if everything was clear and if the engine light was gone. They confirmed it was. Now, shortly after, the engine light is back on. We are new to the area and had to find a mechanic. We're so glad to find Black's Tire and Auto in Calabash NC. As a woman, you never know if you are being taken advantage of, but William was very helpful, honest, and courteous. They were also very reasonable in price. This will be our go-to garage! I had a set of 4 wheels and tires mounted and balanced. The customer service was good. But, I picked up the tires after completion and the weights that were installed on multiple wheels were not installed properly. The area was not cleaned before placing the stick on weights and they were also stacked on top of each other causing the weights to fall out before even installing them on the vehicle . The old weights were removed but the stickers from the old weights were left on. This was a mediocre installation at best. Your staff in the garage area have either lack of training and or do not take pride in the work that they send out. Just imagine having 1 bolt or weight going through someone’s windshield at 60 mph.
