Budget Car Rental

If I could give zero stars, I would. This was the worst rental car experience I’ve ever had, involving serious safety issues, misinformation, and improper billing, all while I was traveling for the holidays. After a redeye flight from the West Coast, I arrived at a dimly lit rental lot at Boston Logan with only one Budget representative working. The agent tried to assign me a Dodge Hornet and told me, “That’s what you booked.” I had rented a Hornet two weeks earlier in Colorado Springs, and it struggled on hills due to lack of torque. Its Apple CarPlay also disconnected constantly. I couldn’t imagine driving that same vehicle in New England winter weather. My request for a different vehicle in the same class was based on prior safety and usability issues, not preference. Yet I had to th

​I returned my rental this morning and was completely impressed by the staff. From start to finish, the team was incredibly respectful, friendly, and professional. ​What truly stood out was the level of care that went above and beyond my expectations. The staff personally helped me get to my terminal, which made my departure stress-free. ​I have traveled all over the country and used many rental services, and I can confidently say that this was the best service I have ever received. I only wish I had gotten the names of the employees who helped me so they could be properly recognized. Thank you for setting such a high bar for customer service!

Overall, experience was standard. I was unimpressed with the car I received. I was told it was an upgrade, but was smaller than my selection and, once I got a look in light (garage is very dark and outside weather was too gloomy to see it all), had damages all around the exterior and interior. The console also showed “maintenance required” and the screen would turn off and not come back online until you restarted the car. After returning the car, I noticed my bill was almost double. I went back and noticed that insurance had been selected. I never select additional insurance as my CC offers coverage. I had the car for less than 30 hours so because I noticed this “too late” and was told it was not reversible. Very disappointed overall.

Dirty car. Low tire light on. Pressure on one tire significantly lower: 19 versus 35 on others. The outside was extremely dirty( they didn't have time to clean it). There was garbage on floor of driver's seat. In the end budget had us move into a different car. The wait time was long because there was only 2 people working the budget and advise desk. It took more than 2 hours to get to the counter. 45 minutes to finally get in a car that worked. And done. We won't be using Budget/Avis again

Expect at least 1hr wait time. Getting to the rentql car center also takes some time. Patience is key, plan ahead and be prepared. Don't forget to ask for the toll tranponder, you'll be paying tolls left and right. My car was clean as you should expect.
