Budget Car Rental

I had a long term rental for a full sized truck from Avis, but the Avis phone goes to Reservations, you have to call the Budget line to talk to a local person. The day before I was to pick it up they called me to confirm I would be picking up the truck. When I arrived they informed me they did not have a truck. After asking repeatedly what they were going to do they finally honored my contract and gave me a Ford Expedition. The vehicle was fine. During cold weather I got a low tire pressure alert so I went to bump up the pressure to 38. The left rear tire was at 58. I took care of it. 4 months into the 6 month contract they called and said they had sold the vehicle and asked if I could bring it in. I’ve rented from Budget/Avis many times and know the vehicles and brand can be solid. That makes this failure unacceptable. I had a prepaid 8:00 AM reservation at the 1 Dorrance St. Providence location for time-critical travel. I arrived on time and was told no vehicles were available, there was no guarantee of availability, and the only option was a “waiting list.” I was told, “we hope vehicles arrive.” Hope is not an operational plan. I was the first person placed on that list. Multiple others were added after me. No call. No update. No follow-up. I ultimately had to cancel and make alternative arrangements. Booked a reservation a month ago for a work trip. The day before when I go to pick up, there is no car and I have to wait in line for the people who came before me to get a rental. What was the point of my reservation if I get there at my scheduled time and do not have the car I picked anymore? I had to scramble to make other accommodations with 12 hours before I have to leave for this trip. I do not recommend this company at all. This almost cost me my job.

There was no mention that the Kia soul I reserved was unavailable until after I signed the paperwork. I would not have rented here if I had known. Make sure you check with them to make sure the car you reserved is the car you’re getting before you sign ANYTHING.

I didn't use the car but priceline gave me a full refund.
