Budget Car Rental

I called this location to rent a car. Someone supposedly named Jonathon answered and said they had a promotion with American Express and told me to go to my local CVS to get an Amex Card. When I checked my Amex balance, there were Doordash charges totalling 378. I advised American Express and filed a police report, so please be very careful.

Really enjoy the rental car, the price very reasonable they showed me all my options and priced out w/ deposit before signing. Thank you guys, I would recommend them for rentals or get another rental in the future..

I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding a deeply unsatisfactory experience I had at the Budget Car Rental location at 999 Route 25A, Stony Brook, New York, involving one of your employees named Carlos. Prior to my scheduled rental on August 1, 2025, I visited the Stony Brook location in person to confirm that a 7-seater caravan would be ready for me. During that visit, Carlos asked for my license and credit card, only to inform me that he could not guarantee a caravan would be available on the agreed-upon date despite my prior reservation and confirmation via email from Budget. This was not only frustrating, but also unacceptable. Avoid this car rental place at all costs , especially if you’re dealing with CARLOS, He was extremely rude, unprofessional, and completely disrespectful. He lied about the fuel level, claiming the tank was full when it wasn’t, and tried to scam me by saying I’d be charged $200 because the car was “dirty.” while he gave me the car a messy. CARLOS is dishonest and aggressive , absolutely not someone who should be working with customers. I’ve already filed a formal complaint. Save yourself the headache and go somewhere else.

The guy at the petrol pump is disgusting. He alleged that I returned the gas half tank. Yes I returned it half tank because I found it half tank when I checked in. Luckily I had pictures and video taken. They won't come out to checkout the car for scratches, defects and gas levels but when you return the car they will cast aspersions on you. Be careful to take pictures of fuel level and odometer and video of the vehicle before renting. I dont think the rental franchise is trustable .
