Cottman Transmission & Total Auto Care

Cottmans is "closed." Yet somehow, all the signage saying Cottmans is still on the building and their garage is still open on the side, the guys in there are fixing people's cars claiming they are a separate business but there's no sign posted with the new name above the garage or anywhere. They took in my car, charged hundreds of dollars, car came out just as undrivable as when it went in. Crooks.

I was referred to this shop by a friend My 2018 Jeep has been making a weird noise every time I start it. They were able to get me in quick and figure out what was going on. The owner Nick was amazing. He was really honest and really explained in detail what was wrong with my car! He was very honest and the price was fair —which is rare for auto shops these days. I’m so glad I found this place! I will definitely be going back in the future for all my car needs.

Great shop. Down to earth. Friendly and efficient. $20 for labor only for an engine oil and filter change. I brought my own mobil 1 high mileage oil and oem filter. I left a $20 tip and it took 10 minutes. Really great shop. I called them to get a quote before coming by. I have had a hard time finding trustworthy mechanics so i appreciate this shop. Try them. Thanks for reading. Monday June 2 2025 update: another 20 dollar oil change by bringing my own oil and filter. Perfect. Always a 20 dollar tip. Will be coming back for brake pads and rotors soon. Personalized, attentive care. Very honest, took the time to explain what kind of repairs were needed and why, in a respectful way. Did not talk down to me or assume I knew little about cars because I am a female. Did not try to upsell unnecessary services. Understanding of my unique situation. I was traveling with my son for a mini vacation when my transmission started to go. I was lucky to be towed to Cottman who, first of all, was the only mechanic even willing to help me, but secondly, went way above and beyond to get me the help I needed. My business went to the dealership only because the issue was under warranty but that didn't stop Shawn from Cottman from being a stand up, honest person who even called me the next day to make sure I was okay. I highly recommend him and his business. It's hard to find a mechanic like that.
