I brought my girlfriend’s 2017 Chevy Equinox here for one thing: an oil change. When I called, I specifically asked for an oil change not a full service or inspection. My family and I have been coming here for years, but after this experience we will not be returning. An oil change here has usually cost around $65, but this time I was charged $139. The bill included a “Routine Inspection” ($30), an “Air Filter” ($30), and “Washer Fluid” ($3) none of which I authorized. At no point was I called or asked if I wanted any of these additional services. Adding charges without customer approval is not acceptable. One year I took my car to them to replace my alternator because it went out. It cost me $1,200. One year later it went out again. I took it back and they put another in because I was under warranty but charged me labor fee about $500. Guess what happened another year later ? Same thing, it went out again i took it back of course its still under warranty but they keep making me pay them for labor fees even though its them that keep doing something wrong to I have to keep coming back every year. Called to have a Torque converter replaced. Was quoted a little over 2k , which was a solid quote. I was ready to shell out the 2k when Mr Davis called me to state he found a different cause . THATS A HONEST MECHANIC!! The front desk was so nice and accommodating. I went from over 2k to $230. Think about that. Do not hesitate to do business with Davis Automotive. Honest and beyond capable. I would give ZERO stars if I could! Took my car to Auto Zone in Beaufort for a new battery. The guy put it in for me and then it wouldn’t start. Chance I took by asking him to install it. I had to have it towed on Sunday evening to Davis Auto. I called at 8:30am on Monday to find out how long it would take to look at my car and I was told by Gail she didn’t know and a mechanic would look at when he could. Been to this shop two different times. The first time I paid over $500 for them to fix an issue with the thermostat in my truck. Drove it for about 2-3 weeks and it started messing up again and antifreeze was leaking. They told me that they drove it around and it was fine. Got it home and still ran hot. It turned out it was a bad connection piece in one of the hoses. I ended up fixing it myself! Just took my other truck there that had an issue with brakes. I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I was told a price before they worked on it and asked twice to make sure it was the correct price. When I went to pick-up my truck they told me the price and it was $200 more than what I was quoted.
