Dollar Car Rental - Mobile Downtown Airport - Brookley

I was so nervous about these other reviews but honestly it was a great experience. We arrived to the airport to see Shawn she was very pleasant we picked up the car it was almost brand new with 3000 miles on it and no mechanical issues. Return of the rental car was just as seamless no issues when we returned it. Our rental was about $250 cheaper than other rentals so I’m thankful we went with Dollar.

This is a public service announcement (Dollar rental at the mobile regional airport.) I will never let my significant other rent a hotel or vehicle after this. Red flag #1- While waiting in line, another customer was told they would have to wait for another vehicle. The customer asked, can you give me an estimated time, the worker straight up said “no.” Red flag #2- as we approached the vehicle, the vehicle looked like it had been in a fight. Scratches, dents and old sticker glue. The hub caps look like a Rottweiler chewed them. Red flag #3- before you open any doors, hold your breath. No, the smell does not go away. If you have allergies, book elsewhere. The smoke smell is strong. It infests your clothes. If you like to be avoided by others, request the car with the smoke smell. Red

We arrived at 11:22 PM last night with pre paid reservation. My exhausted 5 year old daughter and I arrived to an empty airport where no taxis or Ubers were available. The Mobile airport is far away from the city. Dollar was completely unresponsive and the airport was closing. A total stranger offered to drive us the 45 miles to where we were staying, as we had no options, we accepted and luckily, this good samaritan brought us home. I have not been able to get in touch with anyone at Dollar to this moment. I spoke with a Philippino in Manila, his name is Mark, employee #1031 (undoubtedly a lie.) Mark was dismissive, said I had to go get the car at the airport (45 miles away and 130 dollars via Uber if one can be found) and otherwise told me it wasn't his problem. To this moment,

Could not reach "customer service" for 3 days to change dropoff location. In fact NEVER reached any customer service after 15 calls. Was given a car that was NOT mechanically sound. Car had 100k miles shook will driving and almost shook off road while braking. I inevitably returned the car from were I rented it and was charged $48 for 4 gallons of gas, when the car had just been topped off, by a desk clerk who never even looked at the car. Went back to the desk and had the charge removed and was told by the clerk that the charge AUTO POPULATED which tells me Dollar is automatically charging people and if they don't pay attention they get ripped off.
