I had actually gone to a mechanic who gave me a $7,000 estimate to replace the entire transmission. It seemed odd to me, since the gearbox had been working fine until recently — the problems only started after the car had been sitting unused for a while. So I decided to get a second opinion, and luckily I found a mechanic who took a closer look. After a few tests, he said that a good cleaning of the valve body might be all it needed. And he was right. The transmission went back to working perfectly — no replacement needed — and it only cost me 700 euros. Fantastic. Amazing. And above all: honest.

Rich is old School , extremely Experienced in repairing/ Adjusting Automatic Transmissions for Vintage Mercedes Benz Classic Cars . Mine is 1970 280 S L I have had for 30 Years . If you are looking to find someone that know what they are doing, tells it like it is and will give you an honest experience for a reasonable price then Rich is your guy. If you want a sexy showroom with coffee and muffins then pay 3 times the amount with the dealer and make sure they give you a loaner. Rich makes an unpleasant experience (no-one chooses to have gearbox challenges) as painless as possible so talk first to European Exchange, Inc. I have found 2 vehicle repair places I trust in 25 years in the US. This is one of those.

Had a problem last Friday with my 2005 Grand Marquis. Ritchie was great and traveled a few miles to check out my car. Front clutch was gone and needed to be rebuilt. We negotiated a fair repair price and I left the car there for the weekend. Job was started first thing Monday and was fixed by Monday night. I'm happy that I picked European.
