I went to purchase a car for my parents with a power of attorney that was properly executed and filed. I took their car to trade in on the purchase of the new vehicle. Their car was titled and registered in their names. I gave them my identification. I test drove the vehicle and went to discuss price. I was up front and transparent that I was purchasing for my parents with a power of attorney. The sales manager Jonathan wanted me to sell them my parents car but title the new car in my name. I explained that I could not do that nor would I do that. The dealership would honor the power of attorney for me to sell the car and put the equity on the purchase of the new car, but would permit me to title the new car in my parents’ name.
