Hertz Car Rental - Dubuque - Collision Drive

Shady experience! Very nice customer service, however, when we got our rental the tank was 1/2 full and the paperwork said it was 100% full. Thankfully we took a picture of mileage and gas tank when we left and when we returned. We brought it back with 3/4 tank. When returning I notified the lady behind the counter about the situation and she said no worries, we would not be charged for gas, they just asked that it was at what it was when we got it. I ended up being charged $70 for gas on my Hertz receipt! I contacted this lady directly and she said twice that she would email me a copy of the receipt saying we wouldn’t owe for gas and she never emailed me. She stated we would be refunded for the gas and we weren’t. I had to reach out to Hertz directly for a refund. It was a rather shady ex

OK today I added the two other drivers for free because I am a Gold rewards member, JUST LIKE I WAS PROMISED when I reserved the vehicle. I hope I don't see the clown who misinformed me when I return the van. Dealing with people who are clueless about their company's program diminishes the status of the company. It will be a long time before I rent from this location again.

Very unreliable. Made a reservation and scheduled pick up for normal business hours. When I got there, there was a sign on the door that they had closed early and would be back tomorrow. So I had to scramble and get an Enterprise rental instead.

The nice lady behind the counter was very polite and helpful to get me out of a car given to me in Cedar Rapids. She had just opened that morning for the business being remote only for multiple months and she stepped right up and made things happen. Kudos to her and to Hertz for reopening this location.

Their system showed several cars available for reservation, but they called me over an hour after reserving to inform me that they had no available cars until Monday—it’s currently Thursday, so expect a lack of accuracy on their end. (ETA: their followup reply is a canned response that doesn’t resolve the issue. The local office also doesn’t pick up when you call. Their phone system just hangs up when you call them for anything, too.)
