Hertz Car Rental - Jackson Hole Airport - Off Airport

The car I had reserved was not available, which was frustrating. But the counter agent was trying his best, despite the late hour of my arrival (11 pm). The arrangement was that I took a different vehicle and switched it the next day for the one I had reserved. Not ideal, but all the counter agents were very professional. No doubt we'll rent from them again.

Pick up was easy. Day 3 of our trip we got something in the tire and had to change. They dealt with my frustrations very well (roadside assistance never answered the phone so we had to change ourselves so I was a bit angry) But that was not the locations fault. We got back and they switched us out into an even nicer rental very quickly. They were even understanding with us not being able to fill back up with gas due to the speed limit to the gas station being over 50 (which is max speed on the spare tire). All 3 on site employees I worked with were great.

SCAM I would give zero stars if that was an option - I wish I had checked reviews first. Like many others, they upselled me on insurance which doubled the cost of the rental ($500 to $1200) but assured me that if we didn't need it, it would be easy to call back any time the next day and they would cancel it, they would always be there. They also gave me a luxury car which we didn't want or ask for, which increased the insurance cost per day - but said they didn't have another car available. I reluctantly just said fine - it was a long day of travel. I quickly discovered that my credit card covers rental car insurance. I called the next day to cancel - 4 times to the desk went unanswered. I then finally got a hold of their reservation line, but no matter what confirmation number I gave the

Easiest car rental I’ve ever had in my travel. Shuttle from the airport was waiting when we arrived, and we were promptly helped once we arrived. We ended up upgrading our rental from a Mazda sedan to a Toyota 4Runner, and the suv was full on gas, clean, and in good condition for a great price. Check out was similarly just as easy. Billing at the end was all accurate and without issue. Wouldn’t hesitate to rent from again.

UPDATE ON JAN 14, 2025: The rental office is no longer off-site. It functions as a regular rental car company now! -------- READ THIS BEFORE RENTING! I don’t know what it’s like picking up a car upon landing — but when returning your car, YOU HAVE TO RETURN IT OFF-SITE & IT’S A 20 MINUTE SHUTTLE RIDE TO THE AIRPORT. Plus you have to wait for a shuttle. I imagine people must frequently make the mistake of trying to return it to the airport, only to find out they have to drive back to the offsite location & then take a shuttle back to the airport. This could easily cause you to miss your flight. Maybe this will change at some point. But as of May 2021, that was the deal. So make sure you allow extra time for returning your car.
