Hertz Car Rental - Lynchburg - Lynchburg Regional Airport (LYH)

I have to give Beth props. We arrived at the airport with bags two kids and car seats 42 minutes before our flight to find that we missed the checkin window. We called our airline and the earliest they could get us out of Lynchburg was the next day. The only option was to rebook out of Charlotte. I tried the competitor, no cars. Beth was sitting at the desk 30 minutes before they opened at 8AM eating her breakfast. She confirmed they had cars and would be able to get us a one-way to Charlotte. I booked online quickly and she got us an SUV and out the door at 8:03AM. We made it to Charlotte with plenty of time and without issue. Thanks Beth for being so kind and helping us before you even opened!

Disappointed in the LYH location. I have been traveling consistently over the past 25 years of my life to different cities and have been loyal to the HERTZ company, spending thousands of dollars. Even sticking through the time where they went through a rough bankruptcy.. After being bought out of their troubles, reading multiple articles you can see they cut customer service to save money. Try calling their 800 number and see how long it takes you to get a representative from a foreign country who reads off a computer screen. I formed a relationship with the employees at the Old Forest Road location and when I requested vehicles, or called to ask questions, it was always a pleasant experience. They don’t answer the phone… I arrived to pick up the car. It wasn’t ready, or maybe it was the hertz attendant, “I’m going on break, I’ll be back in a bit, it would be best if you come back later.” Sunday, July 20th at 1942. The review posted by Hertz 37 minutes after I posted the above. It would appear the response by hertz was produced by AI or a person who understands very little. Management’s staffing…terrible service, do you really not think that will affect using hertz I the future. I tried to call the LYH office several times over several hours… no answer, but provide an accurate description of the abysmal interaction (non-service) and AI or a marginally competent employee starts with excuses and happy talk…

Rented a car with Hertz at the Lynchburg Airport in May 2024 as an insurance rental while my vehicle was being repaired. Upon returning the vehicle on a Friday afternoon, the agent at the counter was unfamiliar with closing out an insurance rental and said he would leave it for the morning agent to closeout. We received notice from the insurance company that the bill had been paid. A couple of days later I noticed a $125 charge on my credit card. When my wife called to inquire we were informed that it was a fuel charge (I filled it up at a Sheetz near the airport right before returning and have the receipt). They charge people cleaning fees for "pets" that were never in the rental car! A couple of pet hairs DOES NOT mean an animal was in the car. No proof was given and the rude manager wouldn't even speak to the customer. Rent from anywhere but here.
