Hertz Car Rental - Memphis - Memphis International Airport (MEM)

The vehicle I reserved two months prior was not available and no notice was given. We were provided a smaller SUV vs the minivan. The staff at Memphis Airport didn’t care and were blaming “corporate” for the issue. We were told we could wait till tomorrow or take what was offered. Worst part, they had the exact van but told me I couldn’t have it. The car we received was too small for a family of four with a week’s worth of luggage. The car was not cleaned. After two hours on the phone with “corporate” I got permission to receive a no cost upgrade but that would cause me to drive an hour and a half, each way, to go back to Memphis Airport and deal with the unprofessional staff. After 10 years of renting with Hertz, I am done and will never rent from this company again.

One of the worst rental car experiences I’ve ever had. My reservation at the Memphis Hertz location was completely mishandled from the start. The vehicle was placed under the wrong customer’s name, meaning there was no valid contract associated with me or the car I was driving. I had to interrupt my travel plans and return to the location just to have Hertz attempt to fix an error that should never have happened. While staff tried to correct the issue, my credit card was authorized and reauthorized multiple times as contracts were repeatedly voided and recreated. This tied up a significant portion of my available credit during a work trip and no one could clearly explain which charges were legitimate or when they would fall off. They should close this facility.. #hertz at #Memphis airport location is a real pain. Last 5/ 6 weeks, whenever I am here to pick up my #rentals , average wait time is more than 2 hours. Even though being gold members (i am) or president circle (many in the queue). Honestly no body from #hertz cares neither try to improve. Seems their commitment to fulfill customer rental in an hour is just in their website. Such a poor and frustrating experience. There is no b option to gove negative star, this center does not even qualify for 1 start.. all travelers to #Memphis airport should avoid #hertz as it is a real pain.. and by the way, #hertz customer care told me that they have no control to location, they can only chat with us.

I had to wait 20 minutes to get a car and then I was loaded a car which was considered a damaged when I was crossing the security in the checkout. They asked me to go back to the pick up station and pick up another car and I have to wait another 20 minutes to get a new car. This whole process until it almost an hour for my reaching destination on time. I will never going to rent a car from Hertz because of this experience.

I made a reservation for a Hertz SUV via Expedia. I received a reservation number no problem as I have Done this many many times before. I approached the agent working at approximately 8 PM on February 13 at the airport location and after he took my license and looked up my reservation he informed me that they are out of cars and the earliest available would be for tomorrow morning. I told him I had a reservation and what does a reservation actually mean then. He blamed it on Expedia and said if I booked through a third-party, they don’t know their inventory. My feeling is they certainly had cars, but maybe they were running short and decided because I booked through Expedia I would be the one to be turned away.
