Hertz Car Rental - Punta Gorda - Punta Gorda Airport (PGD)

***UPDATE: Thank you for your response. Just to be clear, this review was not in response to the service we received at the Punta Gorda Airport Hertz rental car company. The people there and the car we received was excellent. This review is about the fact that we were charged for gas by Hertz after we left the tank full. It could be that it wasn't recorded correctly when we dropped it off at the airport office. We had a very early flight home, and hadn't even gotten the luggage out of the car when we were greeted by someone who said they would email the receipt to me and to just leave the keys in the car. That was a nice touch. We didn't have to go inside, wait in line, etc. We just took our baggage and went on to the airport check in. I have since finally been told by Hertz that a refun

Claudia Wedderburn at the Punta Gorda AirPort Is always very professional, Knows what she’s doing, Very knowledgeable. Every time I come in there, she always welcomes me with a smile and Great customer service. Because of her and the staff as there at the Punta Gorda airport, I recommend Hertz car rental place above all us.

Everything went fairly smooth until we were informed that the key was never returned even though we returned it in the drop box. We were contacted multiple times about this. The representative that called my wife was very rude and accused her of not returning it. Come to find out that they have no security cameras so we couldn’t rely on video evidence of us returning the key. They threatened to charge us for something we never took. They later found the supposed stolen key in one of the other cars meaning that one of their employees took it out of the lockbox and misplaced it. Yet somehow the blame was placed on us for their sheer incompetence. Not an amazing experience.

Terrible experience. Rented a car for $170 2 hours before arriving. Upon arrival, told they couldn’t honor the reservation because no cars. Told to try the enterprise counter. Rented a minivan for $500, Told they are all owned by Enterprise. What a scam. Stuck paying $230 more or stranded on NYE. Bait & switch. I’d be ashamed to work for this company. Zero stars. Scamming American families. Shameless.

Had a good experience with Hertz on a Kia K4 but the car was not very clean on the outside when we picked it up
