Lafayette Smog Test

Quick service in 15 minutes. Just thought it was a bit expensive. Smog test was for a half ton pickup and cost $118.00 (included the $8.75 certificate).

I had two older Japanese cars smogged here; Ephraim was extremely friendly, the price was very competitive, and they were done extremely quickly. There's tons of nearby shopping nearby to help while away the time. Zero complaints. Thanks for the great smog service!

The test went quickly and was professional. I didn’t bother with a coupon because I am not cheap. I would rather pay the money for a quick professional job then wait hours for a $40 savings.

"California Smog" Check.. Buyer beware, you may get charged double... Price on the website says $39.95, they wanted to charge me $79.95. I told Ian Baker the technician, that it was cheaper online. He stated there may be a coupon on the Internet website, but on the Internet it does not show that it is a coupon nor that you need to print it to come in. When I brought this up he ended up charging me $50 that would be $41.75 for the inspection and $8.25 for the certificate. Fishy to me that he did not know the price that was on their website (He stated he didn't know the price). Reason for Rating. Just went in and fine print on Valpak coupon says to show before test. The older gentlemen said this coupon is only for CA license plates (not out of state) I asked where on the coupon does it say that and he said it didn't. I can see why this place gets terrible reviews...bait and switch. Headed over to Walnut Creek Smog (8mins away) and I told him I had a yelp checkin for $39.95 he said yes that's the deal, asked if there was an extra charge for out of state he said no they are all the same Not only did this place lose out on 2 cars being smogged today but they lost out on my future smog tests (which will probably be yearly since I have older cars) once I get my CA plates Oh well....
