Messiah Lifeways

My husband and I, along with our dog Bella, moved into an apartment in the residential community at Messiah Village a year ago and we all just love it. Before moving, in anticipation of possible future needs, we researched nursing homes on Medicare and found Messiah Village was the only 5-star skilled care facility on the West Shore. We want to award our Resident Life residents, staff, and facilities 5 stars too! We wish we had moved here years ago.

Wow what a wealth of information from Messiah Lifeways and the Cumberland County Commission for Women held the seminar: The Sandwich Generation - Parent Care Giving. Our panel Vicki Hoak, Aviv Bliwas, Laura Souders, and Sue Severino gave us lots of things to think about and to prepare for ourselves and aging parents.

My mother has been a resident of Messiah Lifeways for about 12 years in the assisted and skilled nursing units. She is in the latter stages of Alzheimer’s/dementia and requires total care at this point. I have been pleased with the level of care she has received. She is clean, well fed, medically supervised and interacts with the staff and other residents to the extent she is able. The staff appears to know their residents: likes, dislikes, habits, needs, etc. and are caring toward them. I have rested easy knowing she is in good hands.

Horrible! Not only was the nursing staff unresponsive, it the food sucked! THEN they took ALL the clothes I packed & put sticky labels on everything! I mean socks & panties. Awful-I’ve been home for nearly 6 months, and I CANNOT get these horrible things off!
