Bought a car that ran real good lasted over 1yr minor problems

I would like to know how they ended up with my mother-in-laws STOLEN vehicle and then “sold” it to someone else? When the vehicle was recovered it had MidWest Auto temp tags and a busted up ignition! Super shady
