National Car Rental

I travel for work and have used National many times, but the Long Beach location was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had. When I arrived, I was treated like an inconvenience instead of a paying customer. I had a very simple issue and was just trying to get a car that matched my reservation. Instead of helping me, the employee was rude, confrontational, and acted like I was the problem. I wasn’t being difficult—I was literally just trying to follow what my travel company booked and my agents policy. I even called National customer service while standing there, and they were trying to reach the location to get it resolved, but the staff still wouldn’t cooperate. While waiting in line with other customers, one person on the counter and while another person came, she took her sweet time taking a customer. One customer went to the counter and the guy there was busy on his phone and did not acknowledge him at all. Deplorable customer service at this National location. Our car was not ready as it had just been returned and we had to wait quite a while for it to be ready. This was time that was wasted from our vacation in San Diego. I will not recommend this company for the lack of customer support and attention. The car we got had a screen that was extremely dark and thus it was useless as a navigation tool.

Every time I’ve rented a car here it has been a pleasant surprise. It is unlike most national car rentals because they don’t have the aisle service where you can just select in car and go, however when you go to the booth they are very nice and make it easy. They’ve always had availability compared to other locations in so cal. The few cars they have had made for some fun surprises. I had some fun experiences with a few upgrades to convertibles and muscle cars while I’ve traveled in and out of Long Beach for work.

The team members at the Long Beach airport National rental were all great. Quick getting car rented and quick on the return. Super experience. Great location to get in and out of. Highly recommended.

Most other National rental spots you just grab your car and check out at the gates. Here you have to wait to be serviced. Depending on the time it could take a bit to get your car but the customer service here is spot on. Shout out Jose for your excellent customer service.
