My folks spent almost a year researching options once they realized they needed to be closer to good medical support and needed help with meals and occasional transportation. They found the perfect homey, safe, and community environment they were looking for in Parkwood. Parkwood has long tenured experienced management and staff who offer not only their hearts, but long dedicated hours in making sure the residents are satisfied with the many areas of support they offer. I couldn’t be more confident in my parents well-being under the care and management of Kim and Mark and the entire staff at Parkwood over the years. My mother has been living here for about a year and a half and she has so many positive things to say about the staff and how they are always going the extra mile to assist the residents. I live out of state, so it's nice to know we can count on the staff to help out when needed. She also loves the mature trees and the park like setting. In shopping around for a facility, this was a true bonus, since so many facilities had no private outdoor spaces and felt closed in. Each individual unit has either a patio or a balcony. The layout of the property encourages some walking and fresh air and my mom often chooses the stairs for a little extra exercise. My experience with Parkwood Independent Living has been 100% positive! My sister had a fall in an parking lot that resulted in a very serious break to her leg. She could not return to her home due to the stairs she would need to climb. Needing time for recuperation we looked at Parkwood in Bedford as a temporary place to heal. From the very first we were delighted with the lovely dining room and outstanding meals. There were so many fun activities offered each day that she could attend in her wheelchair and later her walker. At first she was not sure she would fit in with the older clientele but found everyone welcoming and eager to be a friend. Now after a year's residence she does not want to live anywhere else! After researching many independent living apartments for my dad, I found Parkwood Independent Living. I cannot say enough good things about the staff and the apartment. The bathroom has an additional heater and plenty of hand bars to make it easy to shower. Having the ability to keep the bathroom warm makes it so more inviting because it's not cold which makes it more inviting to shower. The food has been great and provides balanced nutrition. The staff has accommodated my dad with his needs like delivering his meals. The staff, especially Mark and Kim helped me make the transition as easy and stress free as possible. My mom has lived at Parkwood for 4 years and I can’t not say enough about how wonderful it has been! They have a long tenured staff who personally get to know the residents and their families which just goes to show they care. The ability to communicate with them and their willingness to assist goes beyond what you’d expect. The Parkwood facilities are very nice and well maintained. They offer a variety of daily activities on property for residents to get involved, offering social and active opportunities to their residents creating a fun and healthy environment. I feel confident my mom is safe and has been able to live her best life at Parkwood!
