It shames me to write this - People's Auto used to be a great shop. It seems the Ole Timer must've retired and the quality service they were once known for has gone with him. I had brought in a 2008 VW GTI in for a relatively straightforward preventative timing job. The car ran perfectly fine when dropped off. The first hint should've been the fact that they were sketchy about me paying before I saw the car. The car would barely run when they claimed it was ready. I showed them, and they agreed it was broken and would take another look. After a few more weeks, they "couldn't figure it out". I ended up figuring out their grave error when I removed the valve cover---they completely destroyed the VVT phaser, solenoid, and exhaust camshaft. After over $1500 in parts, and redoing the job I

Alex is my go to followed by Dave. Trusted local small shop mechanics who specialize in foreign cars. Although I still take my 4Runner to the dealer for big things, everything else I go to these guys. Especially when I source my own parts, such as brakes, calipers, rotors, most recently a rear hatch actuator lock replacement, etc. No problem for them. I’ve had a couple of bad experiences in other small shops around town here, particularly one shop on Main Street in Stafford Springs. Not with these guys. I have recommended Peoples Auto to friends and coworkers in (and out of) the area as well. No bull shit assessments, fair prices and good work. I trust them with my cars and that’s (simply) what you need from your local mechanic shop, trust. Would recommend to anybody.

All 4 tires replaced. Was told to expect a couple hours wait but was in and out in only 1 hour. Thank you!

We’ve towed my 2017 Jeep Wrangler Sport Unlimited to People’s 3 times in the last year. We’ve been very happy all three times - nice, down to earth guys, they diagnose and repair and the prices are fair. We highly recommend People’s!

We brought our vehicle to People's Auto for a couple issues before taking a long road trip, one of which was a spongy brake pedal. The mechanics bled the brake system, and it felt somewhat better, so we assumed the issue was fixed and went on our way. This vehicle was new to us at the time, so we weren't sure what the brakes should normally feel like. During the trip we noticed pulsating when braking, so when we got home we brought it to another local shop closer to our home to change the pads and rotors. We were then informed that the rotors needed to be changed as expected, and also that our caloper bolts were loose and that some washers were missing, to the point where brake fluid was squirting out all over 1 of the wheels.
