Pep Boys Auto Service & Tires

I have used this location for years. I was a mechanic for 21 years before my old age caught up with me, so I’m not stupid when it comes to vehicle repairs and maintenance. I stopped in the other day and was informed that my usual and trusted mechanic was no longer employed here. I attempted to find out where he may have went and they offered zero info. The guy at the desk assured me that the current mechanic is just as good as the guy I usually used. I had a feeling I should have left, but I figured I would give him a chance (he told me he had been a mechanic for a long time). I attempted to have multiple services performed on my car. Update: 08-21-2025 I am updating this review from 2 stars to 3 because Julian from Pep Boys in Hueytown finally contacted me and I still had to educate him on what customer service is. We had to go through the whole thing again in order for him to understand that everything was a huge inconvenience and that the customer should be compensated accordingly. He finally gave me some type of compensation that seems fair. Sensitivity and customer service training really needs to be done at that location because he called me at 7:30 am and spoke to me with the same nonchalant tone that caused a good share of the grievances in the first place. Came to get my rotors resurfaced after having a certified inspection done at the Serra dealership. Was told wait would be two hours at about 1:30pm and over two hours later at 4 pm received a call that they would not be able to service my car because they would not have time although they don’t close until 7. Completely wasted my time and I feel they didn’t want to service me due to the cold weather. Very poor service.

Got there 2-12-26 at 6:40 am Had a nail in my tire- i guess it was the manager Didn’t arrive till 7:10, so they need to take down there opening hours, went in he’s still opening up The place inside is nasty as can be. Trash everywhere, he told me the guy that does my tire Usually doesn’t get there till 7:30 I said ok i will wait Finally at 7:40 i walked out, he came to me while walking-said let me have your keys- (why in the hell didn’t he say that earlier.) I ask him twice to make sure all my tires were on same weight Twice i ask did he— he said yes they did Started on my way — he flat out lied Had to go to another tire shop And they set my tires People people do not use pep boys hueytown Awful—i will not be using there ever again

Went back to back days. Had tires installed and alignment done first day. When I went back to get the oil changed I told them on the interstate that I noticed a vibration in the front end. They rebalanced the tires and it corrected it no problem. I'll go back for sure.
