This Pep Boys location in Waukegan has been the most racist and frustrating experience I’ve had. Three weeks ago, I came in to ask for prices on new tires. I clearly gave the tire dimensions, yet the employee immediately assumed I wanted used tires. I never asked for used tires, so I don’t know why that assumption was made. Yesterday, I had an appointment for an oil change at 2 p.m. I dropped my car off on time and came back at 6 p.m.—nothing had been done. I was told it would be handled the next day. Today, I came back around 12 p.m., and again, nothing had been done to my car. When I finally went to pick it up, the car wouldn’t even start. Still, there was no explanation and no apology. They did a oil change, tire change and a job on a engine light. they suggested i get a new manifold. I couldn't afford them to do a job like that at that time. They said it would be safe to drive and that more air would be going into the engine and that it would be ok.... I've only driven it twice. Once home and once to another Mechanic to get the job done because I do not trust these guys. They said they test drove it and said it was "Safe" and "ECO- friendly". By far the worst 48hrs of my life on the Road. Update.

Didn't honor my appointment. Didn't have the battery they said they had twice didn't notify me when it was done. Said the installation was free. My bill reflected that it might not have been for free. But their bill is so hard to understand that I need an accountant to figure it out.

My husband and I went to Pep Boys to get a new battery for our car. They got us in and installed our battery the same day. The service guys are super friendly and explained everything to us that they were doing. I will definitely go back for all of my cars needs.

Pep Boys manager referred me to Antioch Muffler because she lives there but don’t go. He removes parts so when it’s time to repair you have to pay more and his welding leaves holes. The manager must be getting free work for the referrals.
