Rick's Auto Clinic

Had a company vehicle taken in by an employee. Asked for them to look at a faulty fuel line. Couldn’t fix the problem we needed but magically found $1300 worth of work to do without permission. BBB has been contacted with formal complaints made. Rick admitted we did not give authorization to fix anything other than what it was brought in for yet refused to release our vehicle. Long story short Rick is a scam artist who refuses to man up to his mistakes and is a prime example as to why people don’t trust mechanics anymore.

I am writing this review to warn others of the incredibly dishonest and unprofessional experience I had at Rick's Auto Clinic. If I could give zero stars, I would. In January, I was traveling through Iowa when my car broke down. I trusted Rick's to perform the repair, which they diagnosed as a failed alternator. They charged me a total of $726.27 for the service. Less than seven months later, in August, the exact same problem occurred. A second, reputable auto shop confirmed that the alternator Rick's had installed was defective and had failed prematurely. When I contacted Rick's to resolve this issue under a reasonable parts warranty, they refused all responsibility. They would not offer a refund or a replacement and told me to deal with their parts supplier myself. A legitimate busine

We broke down on Interstate 80 today and called all over to try and get a tow and find somewhere to get it repaired. We called Rick's Auto Clinic and they told us we could have it dropped off there and they would try to get it looked at. After the vehicle was dropped off we stopped a few hours later to find out that not only did they look at it but repaired the water pump and other items and got us on our way. Rick and his technicians are fantastic, friendly and all staff were extremely helpful. For being 200 miles from home with such a problem, they performed the ultimate performance turning a catastrophic day into a blessing. Thank you again Rick. This day will not be forgotten.

We broke down in our camper on a Saturday evening and had to get a tow to an interstate repair shop that was closed until Monday. He was unable to help, but kindly referred us to a tow guy and a repair shop up in town. We called both and got towed up earlier. That shop is very busy, but those guys are AWESOME! They got us a new fuel pump, dropped a full gas tank and installed the new pump with 4 hours and got us back on the highway. And the cost was actually less than what we expected, considering between good, cheap and fast you usually only get 2 out of 3. Nevermind 5 stars, this shop gets 10 STARS IN MY BOOK!! ONWARD TO STURGIS!!

My son broke down on I-80 one evening. The car was towed to Rick's. We figured it would be hundreds of dollars or more to fix it. Rick looked at the car. It needed a thermostat. Rick fixed it. He drove the car to make sure it worked well. It did. Rick did all of that for way less than I thought it would cost. Couldn't be more pleased. The best part... Rick himself went and picked my son up from his hotel once the car was repaired, and brought him back to the shop. That's service- when the owner picks you up and gets you to your car. So, impressive. Thanks so much Rick and all the people who work for you. Everyone was so helpful and friendly. You made a really difficult situation so much more manageable.
